ADA CERP
The Fifth District Dental Society is an American Dental Association (ADA) Continuing Education Recognized Provider (CERP) approved by the New York State Dental Association.
ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.
Mandatory Continuing Education
New York State’s Mandatory Continuing Education Law for the dental profession became effective January 1997. Practicing dentists in New York State are required to take 60 credit hours for every three years. Dental hygienists are required to take 24 in a three year period.
Continuing Education Credits
Continuing education (CE) credits are available for all lectures that meet the NYS Education Department requirements. One hour of credit will be awarded for each 50 minutes of presentation attended. MCE forms for NYS Continuing Education requirements will be given to each attendee upon registration the day of the seminar. In order to verify attendance, a four digit code, read at the end of each seminar must be marked on the Fifth District Continuing Education Form. After completing the form please bring the white copy to the registration desk before leaving. The yellow copy is for your own records. It is recommended that you retain copies of your CE forms as NYS Education Department performs audits on a random basis.
Infection Control Mandate
Infection Control with an OSHA component is required for licensure every 4 years. The CNYDC offers NYS Mandated Infection Control annually.
Risk Management
While not required for licensure, many professionals take Risk Management courses that will provide a discount on their annual liability insurance premium. The CNYDC offers Risk Management annually. Please check with your provider as to what course is accepted for a discount.
The NYSDA Continuing Education (CE) Registry
The New York State Dental Association offers its members the benefit of Continuing Education record keeping in the NYSDA Registry. Participating members can view their official transcript online or contact the NYSDA Continuing Education Department to request a paper copy. This registry is important to have when you’re renewing your license, or even when you are audited by the State Education Department. Whenever you need your transcript, you won’t need to worry.
Members can mail their own course certificates in, or submit them online.
